Commissioner Chat
I hope that your Scouting program is in full
swing for the 2011-2012 season. I have
certainly seen a lot of energy and excitement in many of our units as our youth
members experience the great programs our unit leaders are running. I am also excited that we have Pack 786 and
Crews 46 & 1960 as new Rough Rider units.
BULLY!
With the start of the fall, we also get into our Charter renewal season. Ken Rubino has agreed to continue as our
Charter “answer man”. I would ask that
the key leaders in each unit start reviewing your roster of youth and adult
members that you will be putting on your 2012 charter and collecting fees
and/or raising the funds needed for your charter. I would appreciate your help in getting us
fully past our re-chartering activities on-time (which means all charters into
the Council office by 12/15).
2011 brought the start of the Journey to Excellence (JTE) program which replaced
Centennial Quality Unit. It is significantly different from past programs and
we’ve been working to get all of our units on board with the aspects of JTE.
Your Unit Commissioner has been briefed on JTE and is a resource to use if you
have questions. Please also feel free to contact me with your JTE questions.
There are a great number of activities for the youth, as well as training
events, that are scheduled in the next few months. Check our District’s web
site, as well as the Council site, often so you can keep up to date on the
latest events.
We are here to serve… how can we help you?
John Koch, District Commissioner
